Technology Solutions Consulting

COOP Careers is seeking a highly experienced consultant to provide strategic guidance and support in our technology function.

Background:

COOP Careers ("co-op") is a nonprofit overcoming underemployment through digital skills and peer connections. Over the last decade, we've developed an effective and efficient method to help first-gen grads secure their first good job in an upwardly-mobile career. Our method reflects the powerful role of relationships in the labor market and the three qualities every job seeker needs: head, heart, and hustle. Since 2014, COOP’s alumni-led program has mobilized more than 5,000 grads across five regions, helping three-in-four alumni overcome underemployment within 12 months.

As part of our strategic growth, we are looking for a senior consultant to add strategic expertise and tactical capacity to our technology function. This role will focus on evaluating and enhancing our technology infrastructure, managing vendor relationships, and supporting strategic technology initiatives. We expect this role will require 15-20 hours per week for 4 months (roughly September to December 2024).

Scope of work:

  • Salesforce vendor management & Salesforce projects oversight:
    • Oversee and manage the relationship with our Salesforce vendor, ensuring alignment with COOP’s needs and expectations.
    • Oversee all active Salesforce-related projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and with high levels of internal stakeholder satisfaction.
      • Current Salesforce projects include:
        • Transition from NPSP (Nonprofit Success Pack) to NPC (Nonprofit Cloud) instance
        • Data Migration and Data Clean-Up
        • MCAE (Marketing Cloud Account Engagement) implementation
        • Experience Cloud final discovery and implementation
  • Technology project oversight and strategic support
    • Provide strategic oversight, and leadership coordination to the planning and execution of key technology-related projects. 
      • Current Technology related projects include:
        • FormAssembly upgrade to the Enterprise level
        • Piloting of Risekit
        • Adoption of Brightspace LMS , LiveAlumni and TrueDialog

  • Technology function assessment:
    • Conduct a comprehensive review of our current technology infrastructure, including software, hardware, and IT processes.
    • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Develop SOPs needed to further document existing processes and/or establish new ones.
  • Leadership and advisory support:
    • Provide strategic advice on technology investments and innovations.
    • Facilitate technology-related meetings and discussions with key stakeholders.
    • Scope permanent position and participate in recruitment design and selection process, in partnership with external recruiting firm.

Qualifications:

The ideal consultant will have:

  • 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, 4+ years in a workforce development nonprofit.
  • Executive or Senior Leadership team experience (e.g. CTO, VP of Technology)
  • Proven experience with Salesforce, including vendor management and optimization. Salesforce Administrator certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessing and improving technology infrastructures.
  • Experience with FormAssembly.
  • Experience with pilot programs, preferably including technology solutions like Risekit, and LMS implementation.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex technology concepts into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent project management skills and experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with executive leadership and technology staff.

Selection Process:

Proposals will be evaluated based on the consultant's qualifications, experience, proposed approach, and cost-effectiveness. Shortlisted consultants may be invited for interviews or additional discussions to further assess fit and clarify expectations. COOP Careers reserves the right to reject any or all proposals received and to negotiate separately with one or more consultants. The selection of the consultant will be based on the best value to COOP Careers, considering both technical expertise and cost.
