The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced Surveying Technician to serve as a Survey Party Chief on our Smithfield Resident Engineering team.
In this role, you will:
Perform survey work on complex construction projects.
Supervise survey crews and junior technicians.
Make independent decisions.
Communicate effectively with co-workers, contractors, and the public.
Review contractor’s survey submittals and provide checks of their construction layouts in the field.
What You Bring
Ability to read, interpret, and explain such things as construction plans, contract provisions, and specification/inspection procedures.
Experience using surveying equipment, instruments, levels, data collectors, and GPS equipment.
Experience with math functions, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
Experience performing highway construction stakeouts.
Experience conducting independent, moderately-complex surveying.
Computer experience, including Microsoft Office and drafting software.
Ability to work in outside environmental hazards, confined areas, and to work nights and weekends.
Safety toe shoes.
Education & Experience
Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field, and
7+ years relevant technician-level experience; or
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
