Job Description

Harrison Steel has an opening on third shift in its finishing operations for an overhead crane operator for its cleaning room area. Using large furnaces to heat up steel castings to between 600-1800 degrees Fahrenheit allows us to achieve the correct properties our customers require. This position operates an overhead crane, either from an overhead cab or by remote ground control, to lift, move, and position large steel castings.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to manipulate various types of crane controls such as levers, pedals, and buttons
  • Ability to handle heights and climb ladders
  • Basic math & reading skills
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
  • Works safely and observes all safety procedures

Work Environment:

The employee regularly work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Also exposure to outdoor weather conditions, non-weather related extreme cold, water and humidity, and the risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The usual noise level is very loud. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
