Director of Operations at Forensic Accounting Firm (hybrid)

Position Overview

The Director of Operations will be an internal leadership position that works to teach and promote our mission of telling the truth and loving people. The position will spearhead the implementation of new software technology platforms, including evaluating the best tools, mastering the platform, and guiding employees in the learning and adoption of technology.

The Director of Operations will also actively manage and champion the operation of our Values System, a set of best practices that defines our culture of excellent client service as well as professional character development. This role is ideal for a CPA who is eager to leverage their robust accounting expertise in conjunction with technical and people skills to serve a holistic mission. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse professional background with a strong emphasis on operations management and experience in implementing new systems and technologies. Essential to this role is the ability to effectively lead people through change, combined with an aptitude for technology and good interpersonal skills.

Duties

Operational

  • Lead implementation and training of software platforms that support our professional staff, with a special focus on the migration of client work to Microsoft Teams and SharePoint throughout 2024
  • Lead in the initial implementation and ongoing ownership of the Morones Analytics Values System that includes teaching/documenting best practices that support the firm's mission and values, defining and reporting relevant KPIs, facilitating annual performance reviews, conducting employee surveys and periodic client surveys
  • Maintain a comprehensive case schedule for the team and balance staff workload

Recruiting/Training

  • Work in conjunction with Marketing Director to recruit for new positions
  • Interview/screen candidates for new positions
  • Onboard and conduct entry-level training for new employees

Client Work

  • Conduct work product technical review as requested

Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant—Active
  • High technology aptitude and drive to adopt advanced work tools
  • Business operations experience, including project management and systems implementation
  • An MBA or equivalent business management qualification would be ideal, reflecting our value on strategic leadership and operational expertise
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Attention to detail with an ability to conduct detailed work product review
  • At least 10-15 years of professional accounting experience, combination of public and private desired
  • Strong people skills

Compensation/Other

  • Compensation based on experience and credentials will likely range from $130,000-160,000 for full-time. 80% schedule, or 4 out of 5 days per week, is possible.
  • Benefits (such as 401(k), Health Insurance, Group Life and Disability Insurance), Paid Time Off (PTO), including vacation and sick time
  • CPE, licensing renewals and professional association dues paid
  • Hybrid work schedule with at least 2-3 days per week in office in downtown Portland

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
