A Bright Future, Inc. is in search of a B oard-Certified Behavior Analyst  ( BCBA ).  We are looking for an experienced healthcare professional who studies the behavior of adults and creates plans to improve or change problematic behaviors. BCBAs often work with people who have developmental disabilities, brain injuries or emotional control, social or behavioral issues.

DEFINITION

The primary function of the Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) is to plan, develop, and monitor a variety of behavioral support service delivery options to meet the needs of clients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and/or other behavioral and social/communication challenges. The BCBA also consults with and teaches instructional team members regarding pro-active, educational, programming, and behavioral supports; develops and implements comprehensive treatment plans; and collaborates with team members, related services providers, families, and other agencies as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • A Master's degree in special education, psychology, or related field, with specialized knowledge of behavioral health and treatment philosophies and professional practices

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years to five years of recent experience working with individuals who have autism spectrum disorders and their families
  • Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) required

Certifications:

  • Current Board-Certified Behavior Analyst(BCBA), as certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), as certified by the BACB, who is supervised by a BCBA                                   

Requirements:     

  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray (as applicable per state and/or client requirement)
  • Valid Driver’s License, Registration, and Car Insurance
  • CPR/First Aid Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be able to work with patients who are seated on the floor, in small chairs, or other home, school, community and clinic environments
  • Move frequently throughout the therapeutic setting to gather materials, anticipate and respond to the movement of a patient, and/or provide instruction in a variety of settings, such as school, playground, clinic, or community locations
  • Constantly position oneself to participate and respond to the movements and behaviors of patients, including but not limited to bending to assist a patient, kneeling/crouching to teach a play skill, hurrying to block an open doorway, or reaching to prevent a patient from entering a traffic congested street
  • Be able to utilize continuous visual tracking in order to monitor the movement of patients, as well as the items and circumstances in the surrounding environment
  • Occasionally move to evade aggressive behaviors and/or physically block attempts to aggress towards others. Responding to behaviors may occasionally require bearing weight of a patient who is leaning, pushing, etc.
  • Frequently teach patients to use vocal speech. Must be able to articulate sound and model speaking clearly, as well as listen to and shape vocal communication of patients
  • Occasionally use modeling to teach gross motor skills, such as climbing or jumping, and fine motor skills such as clapping or opening a container
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor settings as they relate to the patient’s natural environment, which may include being outdoors in a variety of weather conditions (e.g., community skills, recess in a school setting, etc.)
  • Be able to lift up to 30 lbs. while assisting patients

Job Description:

The BCBA provides behavioral and educational support for individual clients, is responsible for: educational/clinical trainings, measuring individual client performance, and is the chief quality assurance agent of the educational and behavioral programs assuring compliance with laws, regulations, and internal standards for educational and behavioral services.

  • Operate in a highly confidential manner and with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Considerable time will be spent driving to assigned clients.
  • Basic computer skills and be able to use all required software (Company will provide a desktop computer, laptop, or tablet for this purpose.
  • Due to the independent nature of the position, it is essential that Behavior Analysts model the ethical delivery of Applied Behavior Analysis interventions and demonstrate commitment to the Mission & Vision of A Bright Future, Inc.
  • Ability to effectively elicit and provide information to and from appropriate individuals(including, but not limited to supervisors, co-workers, clients)
  • Strong communication skills to work with a diverse team, proficiency in the English Language is required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct skills assessments to determine the need for ABA services.
  2. Use clinical judgment to promote optimal outcomes for each patient
  3. Develop and maintain treatment plans
  4. Evaluate patients to identify both skill deficits and strengths
  5. Analyze challenging behaviors to identify the function of the behavior
  6. Develop functionally relevant treatment plans to reduce challenging behaviors
  7. Observe treatment implementation for potential program revisions
  8. Monitor treatment integrity to ensure satisfactory implementation of treatment protocols
  9. Direct staff in the implementation of new or revised treatment protocols
  10. Provides ongoing coaching and training to staff
  11. Summarize and analyze data to evaluate patient progress towards treatment goals and adjust treatment protocols based upon data
  12. Update treatment plans at least once per month, based upon patient response to treatment
  13. Accurately communicate the client’s response to treatment
  14. Coordinate the care of client’s with other professionals
  15. Administration, completion, and scoring of standardized assessments
  16. Seek creative options for ensuring the continuity and consistency of treatment and support services across settings for the lifespan of the client.
  17. Develop strategies for the stability of quality services when clients experience transitions.
  18. Conduct structured periodic service reviews to monitor the effectiveness of treatment programs and their implementation; modify and document plan changes as needed.
  19. Provide staff development, training, and modeling for team members in strategies and methodologies for working with clients
  20. Conduct in-service training, workshops, and presentations to develop skills and establish consistent practices across A Bright Future, Inc’s Programs
  21. Provide consultation regarding crisis interventions and critical incident supports.
  22. Participate in Individual Education Program (IEP) team meetings for clients as appropriate.
  23. Promote positive public relations, facilitate interagency collaboration, and advocate for the establishment and maintenance of comprehensive services.
  24. Participate in professional growth activities such as conferences, classes, team meetings and program visitations.
  25. Develop instructional materials as needed.
  26.  Accept all other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
